Arnold Schwarzeneggers 6 rules of success
Listen to the Terminator that won 7 Mr Olympia medals and became governor.
I stumbled upon an awesome video by Arnold Schwarzenegger (darn that is always hard to spell without looking it up).
In the video he speaks about the 6 important rules in life when working towards success. Arnold’s motivational stuff is always really inspiring, especially after reading his autobiography “Total recall” where it’s written about all the insane things he has accomplished in life. (I’ll write up a review of the book later)
The 6 rules
1. Trust yourself
Who do you want to be? What makes you happy? This is so key! Don’t care what others think of you and what you do as long as you are happy yourself. (Also don’t compare yourself to others).
2. Break the rules
It is impossible to succeed in life and be unique if you follow the rules and never do anything out of the ordinary. All the revolutionary guys in the world have gone against the crowd. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates for example dropped out of college. (btw don’t drop out of college unless you have a clear idea and purpose)
3. Don’t be afraid to fail
Push yourself and don’t get paralyzed by fear. There is a book on this subject called Fail fast, fail often going through why it’s so important to try and fail rather than not try at all.
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
4. Don’t listen to the naysayers
Haters gonna hate.. Don’t listen to people who don’t understand the journey you are on. Some people are just so stuck in their way and the only thing they can do is to hate on others. Arnold says that if someone tells you “no one has ever done that before”, you should be motivated to be the first person to ever do that thing.
5. Work your butt off
Nothing comes for free. Work your ass off and keep hustling. When it gets hard keep on pushing through. There are 24hrs a day of which 8 (or more) you sleep. Only 16 left to become successful. And everyone have the same amount of time on their hands. What will you do to beat the rest?
6. Giving back
Always find time to give something back. This could be helping other reach their goals or donating money to charities. Anything really that will help others. One of the 6 human needs according to Tony Robbins is contributing, or giving back.
